About

Hello and welcome! Emiliana here. As the owner and workforce behind Transpire Therapy Services, I hope to be able to provide the individual and community healing needed for LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and other marginalized identities in Nebraska. As this is a one-woman show, a little about my professional and personal self might indicate if I am the right fit for you.

2020 marked my first forays into the realm of mental health, as I graduated with my Master of Social Work from the Grace Abbott School of Social Work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha that year and completed work at both an agency and a private practice. Since then, I found my own niche in helping people through their journeys of exploring their gender, sexuality, life transitions, sexual wellness, and romantic relationships. I learned about myself as a clinician and several beautiful, blossoming communities over two years of completing my prerequisite hours for independent licensure in the state of Nebraska; my biggest lesson of all is that working with people who are gender-diverse, of diverse sexual and romantic orientations, Latine, and otherwise under-served and under-heard populations just is not work to me.

My clinical approach is focused on an eclectic strategy incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) elements and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) elements [disclaimer: I am neither certified in DBT nor offer true, hardline DBT which is a very specific process I am not equipped to provide for my clients at this time]. I incorporate a liberation lens into my work that provides a holistic scope to the client experience, observing how they interact with the world as not only individuals but members of the various systems at play in their lives and making space for all of the complex emotions and struggles that come up as a consequence. I therefore seek to work with those who are marginalized to help alleviate and even heal some of the effects of power disparities. Simply put, I want to use my work as a clinician to affect change on individuals as somebody who is anti-racist, anti-colonial, and anti-patriarchy

Outside of my therapeutic work, I also provide consultation work in an interdisciplinary capacity and education services to other organizations. I have in the past managed a private practice as the operations manager and bring that perspective in addition to the perspective I can bring as both a clinician and a community educator with a social work educational background. I have previously worked with several organizations in Nebraska and abroad to provide training, education, and consultation, including diplomatic/consulate offices, federally qualified health centers, LGBTQ+ advocacy/support organizations, professional organizations, and universities. I also am a sitting member of the Omaha LGBTQ+ Mayoral Advisory Board, where I help inform policy at the city level in a nonpartisan capacity to advocate for the rights of LGBTQIA2S+ individuals.

With the boring bits out of the way, a bit about myself, the person: I am a Latina transgender woman and am myself also bisexual. I was born and raised in South Florida and have lived in Omaha since 2009. My family is entirely from Nicaragua, meaning I had the experience of growing up bilingual and speak both English and Spanish fluently. I mention this not because of self-disclosure for my own sake, but for any potential clientele who find it helpful to know how I personally relate or don’t relate to their experiences as they choose a professional.

If you think I’m a good fit for you, be it for therapy or consultation, please do not hesitate to reach out to me in the listed email at the bottom of this page. Phone calls are a toughie given that I do not have any reception staff, so if I am with a client, I cannot take your call. I will get back to messages, however, so feel free to use whatever method works best for you.

Above all else, thank you for taking the time to look through my page and I hope to help you grow!
